The Chevrolet Cobalt SS is a line of three sport compact versions of the Chevrolet Cobalt. The original Chevrolet Cobalt SS was produced until 2007 when GM announced a new model of the Cobalt SS, which was produced from 2008 to 2010. The old supercharged LSJ engine did not meet 2008 emissions regulations, so it was replaced by the turbocharged 2.0L LNF engine. Production ended in June 2010. The LNF engine can also be found in other popular GM cars such as the Pontiac Solstice GXP. With the 2.0L Inline-4 engine, it has a drivetrain layout of a Front-Engine, Front-Wheel Drive (Classified as FF).
