The PGM700 has a unique body shape based on the violin shaped bass guitars made famous by Paul McCartney. Along with the shape, it has some specifications which are unusual for a PGM model. For example the set-in 22-fret neck, dual humbucking pickup configuration and the mahogany body. It does feature Paul Gilbert's signature painted F-holes. The PGM700 was introduced along with another odd-shaped PGM, the Iceman-style PGM600. Both were available for a limited time in Japan only.
