The Battle of Myrkr followed the fierce Battle of Obroa-Skai in the New Mandalorian Crusade. The Xen'Chi, now fully aware of the threat the Mandalorians possessed, staged a massive defensive over the planet in an effort to keep the Mandalorians from progressing in their campaign. The attempt was to end their advance on Myrkyr, and stop their potential threat. Unfortunately, the Mandalorians launched a fierce and relentless assault on the world, and the Xen'Chi suffered a humiliating defeat. To make up for the loss, they set their eyes on the source of their newfound trouble - Mandalore itself.
