The band's rhytmic section (Collins and Jones) performed on many tracks by Brian Eno, including albums that Peel was enthusiastic about, such as "Another Green World", "Before and After Science" and "Music for Films". Additionally, bassist Percy Jones had previously been a member of the Liverpool Scene, who were regularly featured on Peel's early BBC shows and whose first LP Peel had produced in 1968. Brand X's second session was repeated for 1976 Festive Fifty and they werefeatured on the 1991 documentary about the Radio 1 sessions "Look Out, It's Alive!", produced by John Walters.
