Victor Bernard was an archaeologist working in New York. In 1926, he supervised a dig in Tikal, Guatemala, with Indiana Jones serving as a foreman. Bernard was nearly killed by lethal traps inside a temple Jones had excavated when he wrongly assumed the Mayan builders had used only curses, and not defense mechanisms, to protect the temple against intruders. His assumptions cost the life of one of the local diggers, and nearly took the lives of everyone else in the pyramid. Bernard later blamed Jones for the disaster.

| - Victor Bernard was an archaeologist working in New York. Later that year, while Jones was searching for missing explorer Percy Fawcett, Bernard and his goons tried to overpower Jones, his wife Deirdre and the plane's pilot. Bernard was murdered in the jungles near Ceiba by the natives. After his death, Jones encountered the shrunken heads of Bernard and the pilots. → This article is a stub.
