| - ghSMART is a leadership firm for CEOs and investors. The firm has been characterized as a leading firm in its field, and appears in two case studies published by Harvard Business School, received praise in the autobiography of a prominent client--Blackstone Group co-founder, philanthropist, and former U.S. Secretary of Commerce Peter G. Peterson--and was profiled in a book about the world’s top professional services firms. ghSMART’s mission is to use its expertise in human behavior to help CEOs and investors build companies. Additionally, the firm consults on a pro bono basis with leaders in the areas of education, public health, and government. ghSMART was founded in 1995 by Geoff Smart a Ph.D. student at Claremont Graduate University, while studying under the mentorship of Professor Peter F. Drucker, who has been called the “Father of Management.” Today, with 10 offices across the U.S., the 100% employee-owned firm specializes in maximizing the leadership ability of company CEOs. These challenges include management assessment for pre-hire decisions at the CEO, cabinet, and board levels, private equity and corporate M&A management due diligence, M&A integration, CEO succession, board effectiveness, organizational performance improvement, senior management team performance feedback, and executive learning and development to maximize career success, social impact, and financial performance. The firm’s database of thousands of leader biographies, called SmartAssessments, has been written up in The Wall Street Journal, and has been used by Professor Steven Kaplan of University of Chicago in scholarly papers and presentations. The firm’s fact-based consulting methods have been praised as being more thorough and widely-accepted in boardroom-level leadership decisions than those of firms in the same field.
