The Forlorn Ridge was seemingly a huge long-dead volcano located in southwestern Azshara. It completely dominated the nearby landscape, and both the Alliance and the Horde built fortifications on the side of the mountain. Many believed it to be the site of the "lost" battleground, Azshara Crater. Since the Cataclysm, however, the original Ridge has been destroyed, presumably transformed into the Mountainfoot Strip Mine by the goblins. As such, it is safe to assume that Azshara Crater will likely never be. Metzen called this subzone "Azshara Crater" confirming the connection.
