Annabelle Chung was the Madam of the Japanese comfort house in Wahiawa, Oahu, in the puppet Kingdom of Hawaii. She ruled the house with a strict hand, scaring those who worked for her in particular. While most of her charges were Chinese, Jane Armitage was among those under her "care". When the United States Marines arrived in Wahiawa in 1943, the brothel was hit by artillery fire, allowing the comfort women to escape. Chung attempted to stop this escape but was beaten by the inmates for her efforts.

  • Annabelle Chung was the Madam of the Japanese comfort house in Wahiawa, Oahu, in the puppet Kingdom of Hawaii. When the town fell to the Marines, she was captured and dragged before a mob of citizens, which included Armitage and other comfort women. Chung denied that she'd worked for the Japanese willingly, claiming she would've been killed, but nobody believed her. Forced to run the gauntlet, Annabelle was quickly knocked to the ground and savagely beaten to death. For her part, Jane Armitage was troubled by her part in Chung's death, although not too troubled.
