  • A blackout can refer to several medical conditions relating to a loss of consciousness: * Fainting (or syncope), the loss of consciousness due to low blood pressure; * Sleepwalking, a sleep state where the mechanisms that in most cases prevent a person from moving during sleep are not functioning properly, allowing a person to move about during a dream state; * Concussion, an injury to the brain which may or may not result in loss of consciousness, but usually results in disorientation and the later inability to recall memories of the incident; * Amnesia, a condition where a person loses either short term memory or long term memory, either temporarily or permanently.
  • A series of blackouts appeared on the first season of The Muppet Show. They took place in front of a backdrop that had a fountain painted on it. These skits each featured the guest star with a variety of Muppets.
  • A blackout is when all the lights don't work. All other electric appliances will operate as normal, including the refrigerator. However, when you open the refrigerator door, the light will not come on due to the blackout.
