The Republic functioned similarly to the old New Republic, and the Galactic Republic. It was affiliated with the New Jedi Order. When the Second Hyperspace War broke out in 168 ABY with the Galactic Imperium, the Republic suffered many defeats and defections to the enemy, the most notable being a collaborator group called the Fourth Republic.

The Republic functioned similarly to the old New Republic, and the Galactic Republic. It was affiliated with the New Jedi Order. When the Second Hyperspace War broke out in 168 ABY with the Galactic Imperium, the Republic suffered many defeats and defections to the enemy, the most notable being a collaborator group called the Fourth Republic. After the Republic was defeated in the war, the remnants of it were reformed into the Resistance to Restore the Republic, or Rebel Resistance, in 175 ABY, to fight the newly created Unitary State of the Galaxy. The Imperium was reformed into it by Darth Kryos, after the execution of Empress Allya Pallopides.
