| - Galen Valenquiss was born in 58 BBY as Haldor, the firstborn of Knut, the chieftain of one of the most influential Firrereo clans. In constant rivalry with Melot, the chieftain of the opposing clan, Knut stormed his town, killing Ysra, Melots’s only daughter. The incident caused a small-scale war lasting a year, ultimately resulting in Knut’s death. Still enraged over his daughter’s premature death, Melot vowed to take Haldor’s life. In a desparate attempt to save her son’s life, Knut’s wife sent her only son off world, entrusting him into the hands of Jerot Valenquiss, a prominent anthropologist from Alderaan who was initially posted to study the Firrireo culture upon discovery of the planet, in a joint project by the Galactic Republic and Aldera University. Upon Jerot’s return to Alderaan, the boy was named Galen and adopted, thus severing all connections with his homeworld and kindred alike. Valenquiss’ wife Corinne accepted the child as her own and raised Galen to be the next Marquis of Valenquiss; in that sense, Galen recognizes Jerot and Corinne as his only parents and his arrival to Alderaan as the beginning of his life. The truth of his heritage was kept from him until he was sixteen, when he miraculously recovered from a airspeeder crash injury which would have cost an average human his head. It was only then that Galen found out why he could stare at the sun for hours and why his canines were more pronounced than in his human counterparts - he was Firrereo. Galen spent his childhood and adolescence on Alderaan; he was enrolled in a special schooling institution for gifted children, to learn under Collus, one of the greatest thinkers on the planet. He took diverse classes, ranging from comparative xenobiology to history of music. What particularly intrigued him was psychology/psychiatry and the study of the human mind; at the age of sixteen, he entered University of Alderaan to study psychology. Four years later, he was awarded a degree with summa cum laude honors, graduating at the top of his class. During his time at university, he played Null hockey for the varsity team, winning the Pangalactic university championship in 135 BBY. Subsequently, Galen was employed by High Council of Alderaan as an escort to Senator Ravein, travelling back and forth between Alderaan and Coruscant. The senator entrusted him with dealing with his rebellious daughter Kayala who was a renegade bounty-hunter taking the law in her own hands. Eventually, the girl costed her old man's life; Ravein suffered from a heart attack upon seeing his only child arrested for murder, right in the middle of the evening holonews. Upon the death of his employer, Galen was looking for a job in the Republic's capital. He applied for an internship at Hyphoes clinic/asylum, an privately owned institution specialized for dealing with youth delinquency. Its owner - Marianna Nemores - was an established minder well connected with the galaxy's high society. Like Galen, she was Force-sensitive, but was refused training on the accounts of moral instability; having sensed another of her kind during the job interview, she selected Valenquiss to work with both mentally ill and disabled children of some of the galaxy's wealthiest families. Hefty paychecks made sure such children would be kept far out of sight, especially away from the media; apart from being extremely lucrative, the practice profiled Galen into one of the finest therapists the Republic capital could provide, his patients ranging from senators to holofilm stars. Just as he intended to open up his own practice, thus escaping Nemores' tightening grip, the upheaval of the Jedi Purge and ascension of the Empire ruined his plans. Marrianna found out about his alien heritage; having found out of his plans, she blackmailed him into staying in her clinic. She offered him partnership in more ways than one, but Galen refused. Bittered, she intended to contact the newly formed Imperial Inspectorate that was to deal with non-Humans who had some political influence. Valenquiss cold-bloodedly murdered her, commiting what could be regarded as the perfect crime. He inherited her practice, along with her customers, the sphere of his influence spreading well beyond Coruscant.
