| - Exo was a legendary planet that may or may not have existed. The philosopher Deamos Na-Coth believed in the existence of the planet, and founded a series of expeditions known as The Cabal to search beyond the Outer Rim Territories to find the planet.
- Exos are robotic creations that were made as a pet project in the UNSC Navy but the only ship that possessed Exos was the UNSC Wayward Son It was common in residential areas and some ONI facilities to have Exos as vendors or builders, even guards. Some 780 Exos were created and placed throughout UNSC areas. Their service number font consists of their job, Construction, Guard, Vendor, or Attack, and the chronological order they were made. They have been in commission since 2522, yet only 34 Exos are active in military service. Most have been scraped or been repurposed for civil duties.

- ExO was the title given to the highest authority figure within the Corporate Sector Authority. This individual presided over the Direx Board and while originally charged only with scheduling meeting times and locations and presenting Direx policy to the Authority consumers, later assumed greater authority with Direx operating in a more advisory capacity. The ExO was selected from candidates that were outside the ranks of the Direx Board, usually from the current Viceprexes. To be elected a candidate had to be nominated, seconded, and thirded then voted in by a majority. The position was for no fixed term but at any time a vote of no-confidence from the Direx Board, which would need to be seconded and ratified, could remove an individual from office.
