- XANA (X.A.N.A.) is a malevolent sentient artificial intelligence ( multi-agent system) that seems to only exist to take over the world. X.A.N.A. was created by Franz Hopper. It has the ability to launch attacks, like controlling and manipulating lightning and electricity and possessing people, by activating Towers in Lyoko. It is miraculously reawakened and reactivated in the fifth season, Code Lyoko Evolution. It is assumed that Professor Tyron has unknowingly resurrected the evil, virtual artificial intelligence by accident. In some seasons/episodes, there are "The Exorcist" parodies
- XANA, the primary adversary of Team Lyoko, is a highly sophisticated multi-agent artificial intelligence, whose goal is to destroy/conquer humanity. It serves as the main antagonist of the show. XANA, as well as Lyoko, was originally created by Franz Hopper to destroy Project Carthage, a computer program designed to monitor enemy of the state communications for the French government. However, over time XANA developed independence, and when Franz Hopper and his daughter Aelita came to Lyoko to hide from the French Secret Service, XANA took the chance to imprison Hopper and steal Aelita's memories. It is believed Franz Hopper managed to shut down the supercomputer before XANA could acquire any more power.
- Xana were an extinct supernatural type. Project Phoenix managed to resurrect the species, and three xana are currently known, but only two are alive.
- Besides exchanging other women's children for their own, the xanas promise treasures and can be disenchanted. Some xanas also attack people and steal their food. They live in fountains and caves. A xana can be a beneficial spirit, offering love water to travelers and rewards of gold or silver to those found worthy through some undefined judgment. Their hypnotic voices can be heard during spring and summer nights. Those who have a pure soul and hear the song will be filled with a sense of peace and love. Those whose souls are not pure will feel they are being suffocated and may be driven insane.

Zbuntował się przeciwko swojemu twórcy, gdyż został opętany przez nieznanego wirusa. Pierwotnie, Franz Hopper miał pełną kontrolę nad Xaną, jednakże każdy skok w czasie zwiększał moc obliczeniową programu, a 7-bitowy superkomputer nie wystarczył by go kontrolować. Na dodatek, Xanę opętał nieznany wirus, przez który zaczął kontrolować 41 wież w Lyoko.
