The Whaela'an were a newly created species of macro-viruses that were accidentally enlarged by a Diagosian named Cotat in an experiment to better study viruses. However the Whaela'an escaped the scientist's faciliaties and took off into space with plans fro conquest. The Whaela'an method of conquering other worlds is mostly through subtle biological warefare.

  • The Whaela'an were a newly created species of macro-viruses that were accidentally enlarged by a Diagosian named Cotat in an experiment to better study viruses. However the Whaela'an escaped the scientist's faciliaties and took off into space with plans fro conquest. The Whaela'an method of conquering other worlds is mostly through subtle biological warefare. Using their statuses as sentient viruses they use their smaller cousins to infect the translator microbes, a substance found within nearly every spacefaring sentient race in the galaxy, as their medium of infection. The smaller viruses then begun to cause the brains of the subjects to experience rage and bellerigence, causing the mass hysteria on worlds. Once the madness subsided through the eventually suicidal deaths of the infected the Whaela'ans would take over. Cotat managed to create an anti-virus to act as a cure for the Whaela'an plague and creating a modified version of the Whaela'an to sniff them out. It was tested on John Crichton and was eventually diseminated across the galaxy by the Hynerian Empire.
