Nancy Briers was a waitress employed by Robert Preston at Nick's Bistro who was quickly taken on to fill the gap caused by the sudden resignations of Steph Britton and Andy Carver. Her first day at work coincided with what was supposed to be a family meal to celebrate Tracy Barlow's fortieth birthday but, much to her disgust, most her relatives couldn't make the event and she was left with the company of "friend with benefits" Luke Britton. A month earlier, Luke had enjoyed a one-night stand with Nancy and she was delighted to see him in the bistro, their fling having meant much more to her than it did her lothario. | - Nancy Briers was a waitress employed by Robert Preston at Nick's Bistro who was quickly taken on to fill the gap caused by the sudden resignations of Steph Britton and Andy Carver. For his part, Luke was less-than pleased to recognise Nancy with Tracy sat in such close proximity. When Tracy went off to the ladies', Nancy sat briefly with Luke and made it clear that she was interested in taking up where they had left off, gaining an admission from Luke that he wasn't sure if he was in a proper relationship with Tracy or the open one that the two had conducted to date. When Nancy got Tracy on her own, she made sneering comments to her about being alone on her fortieth birthday, causing Tracy to ask Luke if he was being dumped in favour of the younger girl. This caused him to declare his love for Tracy, and prompting Nancy to start making catty comments to Tracy about her age and Luke about her dress sense. Tracy threatened the gobby girl who responded by asking if she was going to "zimmer frame" her to death. Pushed over the edge, Tracy went hell for leather for the girl and a full-scale fight broke out. As a result, Tracy was thrown out of the bistro and Nancy was thrown out of her job.
