The Wide Beam was one of the many Beams available to Samus Aran in her Fusion Suit during the events of Metroid Fusion. It is similar to the Spazer Beam of other games, but the Wide Beam splits into three pink rings like a wall, as opposed to the Spazer's three individual lasers. Unlike the Spazer featured in Super Metroid, which can only hit one target at a time, the Wide Beam is made up of three separate shots, so that all three can hit different targets, exactly like the Spazer Beam's original mechanics seen in Metroid 2. It is probable that the Wide Beam was used as a replacement for the Spazer, so that it could be compatible with the Plasma Beam.
