  • Keshiri Tan was a Dathomiri witch of the Misty Falls Clan. She was well-respected by her clan sisters and a friend and mentor of Rin Sakaros. Keshiri fought the Nightsisters in her youth, and had both taken life and lost the lives of her sisters who fought beside her. As a young woman she kidnapped a male slave from the Singing Mountain Clan and made him her mate. By the time Rin Sakaros arrived at the Misty Falls in 75 ABY with the three children survivors of the Frenzied River Clan, Keshiri had already borne two daughters of her own and was a respected warrior in her clan. In the year that Rin spent among the Misty Falls sisters, she and Keshiri became friends. Keshiri was aware of Rin's desire to wreak vengeance on the Nightsisters and Seneka Yari for the slaughter at the Frenzied River, but she counseled patience. An improperly planned attack on the obviously powerful Nightsisters would do nothing but get more people killed needlessly. Rin and Keshiri spent many hours discussing tactics, and Keshiri offered her thoughts on the galactic campaigns of several military luminaries, including the Yuuzhan Vong and Thrawn. Keshiri was among the witches who frowned on Rin's close relationship with the slave boy Keltrayu, though after a while she gave up trying to talk Rin out of the bizarre interest. As the Nightsisters attacked other clans on Dathomir and Rin trained with the Misty Falls Clan, Keshiri began to sense that Rin had far more experience than she was letting on. She was therefore unsurprised when Rin foresaw the Nightsister attack on her own clan and offered to help. Though Rin was eager to serve on the front lines and kill her way through the Nightsisters to Seneka herself, Keshiri dissuaded her from this plan. She sensed Rin had sufficient abilities to affect the entire battle, and cautioned her young friend that a single witch, even one of Rin's obvious power, could not accomplish as much as the entire clan working in concert. Rin heeded Keshiri's advice, and when the Nightsisters attacked, the Sith witch used Battle Meditation to strengthen the resolve of the Misty Falls Clan while eroding the Nightsisters' morale. Keshiri commanded a group of witches and rancors in the battle, and she could feel Rin's power driving them on. Even when Rin was forced to focus on a duel with Seneka Yari, the Misty Falls Clan remained motivated enough to fight on and repel the Nightsisters. Expertly wielding both a traditional staff and her "Allyan magic", Keshiri killed one of Seneka's lieutenants and took several young witches prisoner when they surrendered. In the aftermath of the battle, Keshiri complimented Rin, but found her friend distracted and edgy. When the clan elders met after the battle, Rin arranged for Keltrayu to be freed after saving her life, but then admitted that she had participated in the Nightsister attack that destroyed the Frenzied River Clan. Keshiri was aghast at this confession, though it fit with Rin's ferocity in opposing the Nightsisters and the holes in her previous story. The clan elders elected to pardon Rin, feeling her repentance was sincere and she had done what she could to make amends, but they commanded her to leave Dathomir. Still reeling, Keshiri said a somewhat stiff goodbye to Rin. In subsequent years, Keshiri's view of Rin softened somewhat, and she often wondered what Rin had gotten up to, pursuing her grand destiny in the rest of the galaxy. Keshiri had at least one more child.
