Rik Makarem (born 18 January 1982) is an English actor. He is known for his role as Nikhil Sharma on Emmerdale from 2009 to 2016 during various stints as a main cast member. He portrayed F1 doctor Sebastian Grayling on Casualty from October 2016 to January 2017.

Alongside his acting career, Rik is an established song writer and is currently working on/arranging material for himself and other well known performance artists for commercial release and musical theatre. Rik is a classically trained actor, graduating from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and his theatrical pedigree was proudly established in 2004, delightedly winning a Laurence Olivier Bursary in 2004 in association with the Society of London Theatre. In August 2011, Rik completed an Extreme Cycle Challenge for charity with TEAM EMMERDALE, riding a whopping 224 Miles in less than 24 hours, from Emmerdale to Eastenders, all in aid of MacMillan Cancer support.
