The Festival, spans sports, music, history, dance, so many aspects of our shared culture. The Celtic Society of Southern Maryland, Inc., a recognized non-profit organization, provides grants, scholarships, donations, and supports singly or in cooperation with other organizations, events of a cultural or historical nature. Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum is located on the Patuxent River near Historic St. Leonard, Maryland. This spectacular 500+-acre historical and environmental preserve overlooks the site of the War of 1812 Battle of St. Leonard’s Creek. Typical planned events include: Piping and Drumming Competitions for: Full Band; Individual Piping; Individual Drumming Highland Athletic Games: Caber Toss, Clachnert, Weight Toss Highland Dance Competition Southern Maryland Scottish Fiddling Championship Celtic Market Place Celtic and Regional Foods Harp Competition and Workshop Craft Demonstrations: Dulcimer Carving, Spinning and Weaving, Other Crafts Children's Highland Games Storytelling all day long Live Performances on 3 Covered Stages all day long The best of Celtic Music and Song Demonstrations of Irish, Welsh, English, and Scottish Dances Clans and Societies Parade of Clans and Societies Welcoming and Closing Ceremonies: Massed Band performances at each Genealogy Seminars Living History; Military and civilian encampments all day with a multi-century battle in the afternoon.
