- Eugene Cernan was a 20th century American astronaut in NASA's Apollo program. He was a crewmember, along with Stafford and Young, on Apollo 10. As well, he was a crewmember, along with Evans and Schmitt, on Apollo 17. During the mission, Cernan was photographed standing next to the American flag on the lunar surface.
