In Buddhism in the Mahaparinibbana Sutta Cunda was a blacksmith who gave the last meal to Buddha (most likely consisting of mushrooms). The Buddha fell violently ill but told Cunda not to worry and the Buddha taught him the Dhamma as well as others present before passing to nibbana.
