The Mobile Artillery (referred to as the Pillager in the Total Annihilation manual) is a level 2 artillery vehicle capable of attacking from a great distance; the unit has the longest ranged weapon out of all CORE vehicles and is cheaper to build than most advanced units, but the unit does not have a lot of armour due to its role of shooting from the back line. Its ARM counterpart is the Luger.

- Artillery refers to units that lob highly damaging and explosive shells over a large arc to a target, going over hills and other obstacles. The mobile versions do not have nearly as much range as the stationary versions, however have much higher DPS per mass invested.
- Mobile Artillery are mounted on several wheels that grant them a high movement rate, while also holding them upright and stable. They are armed with a Gatling-style cannon, a missile launcher, and a single, high-powered cannon. The operating seat is located between the side weapons and under the main cannon.
- The mobile artillery was a repulsorlift weapons platform used by the Galactic Empire.
- A type of mobile artillery vehicle is used by terrans. Mobile artillery is propelled on twin caterpillar tracks, with a wheel jutting out from the front. A single crewman operates the vehicle from an exposed position. The gun can fire two shells simultaneously. Shells are loaded from above.
- Self-propelled artillery (also called mobile artillery or locomotive artillery) is artillery equipped with its own propulsion system to move towards its target. Within the term are covered self-propelled guns (or howitzers) and rocket artillery. They are high mobility vehicles, usually based on continuous tracks carrying either a large howitzer, field gun, a mortar, or some form of rocket or missile launcher. They are used for long-range indirect bombardment support on the battlefield.

They are high mobility vehicles, usually based on continuous tracks carrying either a large howitzer, field gun, a mortar, or some form of rocket or missile launcher. They are used for long-range indirect bombardment support on the battlefield. In the past, self-propelled artillery has included direct-fire vehicles, such as assault guns and tank destroyers. These are heavily armored vehicles, the former providing close fire-support for infantry and the latter acting as specialized anti-tank vehicles. Modern self-propelled artillery vehicles may superficially resemble tanks, but they are generally lightly armored, too lightly to survive in direct-fire combat. However, they protect their crews against shrapnel and small arms and are therefore usually included as armored fighting vehicles. Many are equipped with machine guns for defense against enemy infantry.
