The Cursorium (Eng: Public Postal Service) is Roman institution for delivering mail. This minor civilian branch of the government evolved from the ancient cursus vehicularis that Augustus founded. Letters from state officials were transported by the old courier service until Heracleitus opened the cursus to the public in 272.
