  • The Cursorium (Eng: Public Postal Service) is Roman institution for delivering mail. This minor civilian branch of the government evolved from the ancient cursus vehicularis that Augustus founded. Letters from state officials were transported by the old courier service until Heracleitus opened the cursus to the public in 272. Like the ancient service, there are two sides to the Imperial Mail. Messages can be delivered quickly by the cursorium velox or slowly by the cursorium clabulus. Packages can only be delivered by the latter service but the CC also finds use when people send personal handwritten letters. In short, the CV transports letters from one post office to another electronically then delivers a physical copy to the recipient while the CC physically transports deliveries.
