The Battle of Farrukhabad (14 November 1804) was an engagement during the Second Anglo-Maratha War between forces of the British East India Company and those of Maharaja Yashwantrao Holkar of the Maratha Empire. The battle took place at Farrukhabad in what is now Uttar Pradesh, India. The Company's forces, led by General Gerard Lake, surprised Holkar's forces after making forced marches of more than in the preceding 24 hours. Holkar himself very narrowly escaped capture in the rout.
