This GP was the first ever to involve two-seater Formula One cars and was won by Minardi team principal Paul Stoddart and American singer-songwriter Kelis, after a collision with ex-World Champion Nigel Mansell and Spanish rookie Fernando Alonso. This made Kelis one of the few women to win an F1 race, even though this didn't count towards the Championship.
