Back in October 1967, Mark Meltzer was able to take a picture of the strange creature thought to be abducting little girls all around the Atlantic ocean. However, the creature followed him back to his vacation home in Fairview, Maryland, and took his own daughter, Cindy, whose likeness to the previous victims was what started Metlzer's obsession with the case. He sank into depression due to his responsibility in his daughter's kidnapping, and was eventually interned at Tollevue Hospital for psychiatric evaluation. He was discharged in March 1968, but did not abandon his researches. Following the trails of the sea creature, he finally encountered it again in April near the Hudson river, with the intention of catching it.
