| - Antiochus II Theos (Greek: Ἀντίοχος Β΄ ὁ Θεός; epithet means "the God"; (c. 260 BC – 215 BC) was the Basileus of Isauria. He reigned from 230 to 215 BC. He succeeded his father Antiochus I Soter in the winter of 230 BC. He was the youngest son of Antiochus I and princess Stratonice, a Macedonian princess. When Antiochus II inherited the Isaurian throne he inherited a kingdom in a state of turmoil; constant intrigues of petty archons and restless vassal-states asserting autonomy plagued the Isauria realm. Not to mention there existed a state of war with Alexandrine Kingdom Nea Aegyptus, the Second Isaurian War. During a military campaign into Thrace, Antiochus II liberated a local town from the clutches of a tyrant; earning him the epithet Theos (Greek: Θεός, "God"). While Antiochus was preoccupied with the war against the Alexandrine Kingdom, Theodotus the Satrap of Bactria revolted in 224 BC. A few years later in 219 BC, Arsakis a Persican noble killed the Satrap of Hyrcania and proclaimed independence. When the Second Isaurian War finally came to a conclusion Isauria and Nea Aegyptus made peace. Peace was sealed by a royal marriage, the marriage of Antiochus II to Berenice, the daughter of the Aigyptian Pharaoh Alexander III Philadelphos. The Aigyptian princess came with a very large dowry. As a result of one of the treaty's stipulations, Antiochus was forced to repudiate his first wife LaodiceI, exiling her to Ephesos. While in exile in Ephesos, Laodice continued her schemes and intrigues to gain power. In 215 BC, Antiochus II paid a visit to Ephesos, even dining with Laodice. The former Queen took the opportunity to poison Antiochus and seize the throne for her son; having her rival and her young son murdered at the palace in Antiocheia. Seleucus II Kallinikos, became the next Basileus of Isauria in 215 BC.
