- The following is a list of ratings that are given to most channels, like Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, to show if the content in the show is suitable/unsuitable for children to watch. The TV Parental Guidelines system was first proposed on December 19, 1996 by the United States Congress, the television industry and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and went into effect by January 1, 1997 on most major U.S. broadcast and cable networks in response to public concerns of increasingly explicit sexual content, graphic violence and strong profanity in television programs. It was established as a voluntary-participation system, with ratings to be determined by the individually-participating broadcast and cable networks.

- Lost instantly became a hit show throughout the world, attracting an average of 19 million viewers per episode in the United States during its debut season. Similarly in the UK, the pilot achieved the best ever ratings for a US import for its broadcaster, Channel 4, when it first aired in 2005. A survey conducted by "Informa Telecoms and Media" in 2006 found Lost to be the second most watched show worldwide, beaten only by CSI: Miami. BBC News
- Ratings were a measurement of television viewership. In 2024, after Jadzia Dax pleaded with him, Christopher Brynner agreed to give a voice to the people of Sanctuary District A on Channel 90, saying although he'd lose his interface operating license, at least he would get great ratings. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part II") In 2267, the Master of the Games on Name the Winner threatened to do a special on Flavius Maximus if he brought the network's ratings down. (TOS: "Bread and Circuses" )
- Ratings in the N community refer to the ratings users give each other to compare their maps on NUMA. Represented by ninja images, maps can receive anything from 0 ninjas to 5 ninjas in whole numbered increments (formerly half). Users are not allowed to vote on their own maps, though sometimes few abuse the ratings system to make their maps look good to others.
- Never mind that:
* Ratings on scripted dramas overall are down.
* iPlayer and torrents dilute the overall viewership.
* Killing the show would mean the BBC would bleed out millions in merchandising sales and overseas airing.
* /who/ should be glad that the show seemingly isn't as popular, because that means less casuals.
* The BBC already lost money by erasing Jeremy Clarkson. What makes you think they'll cull their other money maker?
* Seriously, why do you think the BBC wants to lose money? Unless Chibnall casts a David Tennant type, then you'll be saved.
- The following are the ratings for Smallville from Season 1 to Season 10.

* 0s are generally given to maps that are plagiarized from other users, or perhaps shows no thought process or effort put in whatsoever. They are also given out by jealous users in an effort to decrease a map's popularity. (See sniping.)
* 1s are given to maps that just are not good in quality but have some effort shown by the mapmaker.
* 2s are given to maps that are not of great quality, but show some potential.
* 3s are given to maps that are overall good in quantity, though not perfect.
* 4s are given to very high quality maps, maps that are worthy of playing more than once.
* 5s are given only to the most superb of maps. Sometimes users exaggerate their ratings in order to increase the popularity of a map by giving a 5 rating, or to balance out a sniping attack on a map.

* Seriously, why do you think the BBC wants to lose money? It is a common game to bemoan the show's current ratings, how *insert episode here*'s failure will surely be the death knell of the series, and we'll be forced to live in a new Wilderness Era. Prayers to your Moff God are useless, as your favorite show sinks in the BARB charts and becomes less popular than Mrs. Brown's Boys. As you grow old and decay, so will Doctor Who. And you both will shrink and wither into obscurity. Unless Chibnall casts a David Tennant type, then you'll be saved.
