Robert the Bruce was a king of Scotland who lived in the late thirteenth to early fourteenth centuries. In 2269, Montgomery Scott sarcastically mentioned his "expectation" that this man and Louis XIV would follow Abraham Lincoln aboard the USS Enterprise. His embalmed heart was to be taken on crusade by his lieutenant and friend Sir James Douglas to the Holy Land, but only reached Moorish Spain, where it acted as a talisman for the Scottish contingent at the Battle of Teba.
