After the events of Transformers (2007), in which Megatron and the other off-line Decepticons were dropped into the sea by the the US Military and Navy, Starscream wanted to leave him there, but Soundwave secretly went to earth to collect him with Tidal Wave, the two "landed" on earth in the middle of the US Fleet that dropped the Decepticons into the sea. They then found the remains of the Decepticons on the seabed, and due to Tidal Wave size and strength, they lifted all of the dead out of the sea and returned to Cybertron with them. Then secretly under Starscreams nose, Soundwave worked for months to revive the offlined robots. He finnaly succeeded at restoring all of them, but with a few changes done to their bodies, Megatron now having shoulder cannons and had parts of his vehicle's w

Starscream was very shocked to see Megatron revived, but due to fear, bowed down to him again, as did all of the other Decepticons. Megatron then had a small force of Decepticons to set up a base of operations on Mars. He later apointed Soundwave the controller of this base.
