Born in New Jersey, Mannarino became a made man, or full member, of the DeCavalcante crime family during the late 1970s. By 1978, law enforcement ranked him as soldier in the family. Mannarino was involved in labor racketeering, extortion, loansharking, and illegal gambling operations around Newark, New Jersey and Elizabeth, New Jersey. Mannarino and fellow soldier Bernard NiCastro later moved to Miami to protect the DeCavalante rackets, such as loansharking and illegal gambling, under captain Philip Abramo. During the early 1990s, Mannarino reportedly bought a house in Boca Raton, Florida. In 2000, Mannarino and many other DeCavalcante members and associates were indicted on federal Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) charges. After being extradited from Florida, Mannarino and the other family members went on trial October 19, 2000. Mannarino was charged with bribery and extortion operations in aid of labor racketeering and obstruction of justice. In 2002, Mannarino was sentenced to 10 years in prison. Anthony Mannarino was imprisoned at the low-security Federal Correctional Institution, Miami in Florida and released on July 12, 2010.
