While it is significantly cheaper than either bacta or kolto, it is also far less effective. In appearance the SCMU looks like a 2 meter tall egg with ring of charge rods around the center (15), a hatch in one side & a small readout screen next to the hatch. The pod contains a dedicated power system & several other integrated systems, reducing its external requirement substantially. The only external resources that are required are replacements for the charge rods that are drained during use. Each of the charge rods are 50cm long & 20cm in diameter. Inside each rod is a nutrient rich jelly & a 'starter seed' of nano-machinery. Each use of the SCMU completely drains one of the charge rods. Charge rods not hooked up to the SCMU can be stored in nearly any cool, dry location. When in use, the SCMU repairs around 1 kg worth of damaged tissue per hour spent healing. However, the area healed is usually discoloured, heavily scarred or possessing other minor blemishes. The charge rods will function for most humanoid species, but will not function for more exotic species & may cause extensive damage to the patient if attempted. In addition to the charge rods, the SCMU can function as a normal bacta or kolto tank.
