  • CHILDHOOD R.L.Hnuni was born of the parents Mr. R.Lalthianga (L) Teacher by profession and Ms Khawngaihthangi (L) in a village called Hmuntlang of Mizoram, on 23rd September 1951 and was brought up in the good atmosphere of a Christian Family. EDUCATION · Did her primary school education up to Class VI in at three villages where her father worked. · Did her Class VII in Aizawl and from Class VIII in Khasi jaintia Presbyterian High School, Shillong, Meghalaya to Pre University went to Shillong and BA (Hons) back to home town and completed B.A (Hons in History in 1975. · She is the oldest among ten brothers and sisters (4 and 6 respectively) and had the responsibility to help parents to help her younger brothers and sisters in their education. As such she could not continue her BA studies regularly as day scholar. She was appointed as teacher in the High School in her Village to help the family while doing B.A (Hons) studies and taught from 1973-to 1975, till she graduated. · She did Bachelor of Divinity (B.D.) studies in Serampore College from 1975 itself and completed B.D in B+ (High second Class). · She did Master in Theology (M.Th in the branch of Old Testament) together with her husband at the United Theological College, Bangalore, from 1983 and passed out in First Class in 1985. · She pursued again Doctor of Theology, (D.Th) studies her branch of studies Biblical subject particularly Old Testament. She first did her German course and Greek studies as pre-requisites for admission to D.Th studies for one year. · Started doctoral studies under the South Asia Theological Research Institute (SATHRI), under the Senate of Serampore College (University) based at the United Theological College Bangalore. · She did her research in Melbourne where her husband did his D.Th and also in Germany, and earned Doctor of Theology in 1997. · She was given Professorship by the Board of Theological Education in 1997 and delivered Professorial lecture. FAMILY · She got married in May 19, 1980 with Rev. Dr. K.Thanzauva who was a Pastor in a remote village in south Mizoram, and has three children John, Judith and David, all of them were born in Jorhat while teaching in Eastern Theological College, Jorhat, John Lalrambuatsaiha, (BBM, now working with ICICI Prudential), Judith Zonunpari, (B.A in Development Studies, St Xavier Uni, Nova Scotia, Canada, now working with Association of Canadian Community Living) David Zodinpuia (B Mass Media II yr, Mumbai) · Her Father died in July, 1980 and mother died in July, 10 2006 · Her four brothers and six sisters all got married and are living with their children in different places, all of them have their own jobs. TEACHING MINISTRY · Taught at Bungtlang High School from 1973-1975 while studying B.A. Hons in Pachhunga College · Taught at the Aizawl Theological College, the Presbyterian run Theological College from 1979 till December 1980 then joined her husband in pastoral ministry in Thingsai Bial for 5 months. · Taught at the Eastern Theological College, Jorhat as Lecturer from June 2001 at different periods due to further studies as mentioned below: . She was invited to initiate a theological college by the Baptist Church of Mizoram in 1998 and she left for Mizoram to start the new college and join in May 1999. · Director for the development of Academy of Integrated Christian Studies (AICS) May 1999 – March, 2001. · Principal of AICS from April 2001 – March 2004. · Vice Principal of AICS from April 2004-March 2007 (her husband’s term as General Secretary was over and he was made Principal for 3 years) · Presently, Principal of AICS again from April 2007-till date. PARTICIPATION IN OTHER AREAS: · Member of the Coordination and Committee and Academic Council of the Senate of Serampore College (University) from 1997 - 1999 · Honorary Treasurer of the Senate of Serampore College (Uni) 2001-02 · Coordination Committee member of the Senate 2002-2004 · Honorary Treasurer and Executive Committee member of the Senate from 2005 -2007 · Executive Committee member of the Senate from 2007 till date · Member of the Core Group Curriculum Revision of the Senate of Serampore college · President of the ATTWI – Mizoram Unit for three terms 2000-06 · Member of the Panchayati Mahila Shakti Abhiyan from 2008-till date CONTRIBUTIONS IN ACADEMIC AND LITERATURE Books written and edited in English (1) A Guide to Biblical Hebrew: An Introductory Grammar, 1998 and 2004 (2) Transforming Theology for Empowering Women : 1999 (3) Commentary on Isaiah 1-39 (in Mizo) 1993 (4) Commentary on Isaiah 40-66 (in Mizo) 2000 (5) The Poor in Ancient Israelite Law A Textual and Hermeneutical Presentation (Professorial lecture) 2008 (6) Vision for Women in India (A compilation of her articles and papers read in consultations, seminars in regional, national and Asia levels).
