HistoryText
  • Emil Blonsky was born in the waning days of the Soviet Union and as a child was given over to the KGB to be trained. Gruelingly trained to become a hardened and remorseless killer, with the aim being to purge out the emotions that could hold them back. After the fall of the Iron Curtain and the dissolution of the KGB however he and the other subjects were put into the adoption system. However the conditioning already took its toll on his psyche. Emil never could quite fin it, and that got to his adoptive parents and abuse from his father in particular who came to see him as a freak. His off-putting nature also made him the target of bullies. Though he was quiet and passive, as a teenager when finding himself pushed he relentlessly beat one of his thrashers to the ground on his way home from school once. Through it he got a rush of emotion that had become foreign to him and savored it. A glee coming from the cathartic release of his anger. Feelings that he wanted to recreate. Eventually doing so when murdering his foster father ruthlessly, using a beating of his mother as an excuse to allow him to indulge in those feelings again. However his mother didn't see it as that sort of heroic act and in horror called him, "An abomination". Leading to him running off into the night. As time went on he grew up to become muscle and a hitman for the Russian mafia before that served as an outlet for him to inflict the violence that helped him achieve his "emotional highs". Noted for his apparent calm professional behavior with his allies but being seen as merciless if not malicious towards his enemies. Also getting a notorious reputation among local prostitutes for his deranged behavior. He'd eventually be recruited by a Russian terrorist group known as the Crimson Dynamo, led by the ex-Soviet radical Anton Vanko. One of his missions eventually being to become a saboteur within Stark Industries. Taking on the alias Gil Roth and becoming a security guard at a Stark base in Nex Mexico working on a gamma bomb project in a joint venture with the US government. He was to steal the research for their use and set off the bomb in the facility. During his time working there he would meet the physicist spearheading the project Bruce Banner, who he noticed was similarly, generally speaking, reserved and soft-spoken amongst others. When the day came to trigger the bomb, he was caught in the act by a worker there named Samuel Sterns. Shocked, he asked what he was doing with the bomb leading to a struggle where Blonsky callously smashed his head against a machine, leaving a terrible gash. Sterns managed to trigger an alarm however, which set the base into a frenzy as they evacuated. Emil having to escape in the confusion. The evacuees rendezvoused far away from the base, where Emil was forced to hang around for awhile. Eventually however the group was in awe of the sight of a giant green man approaching them. Emil saw this and was speechless. That hulking creature had in its arm a smaller green man with an abnormally large head that it places before them. Panicked, soldiers begin to fire upon it, but have absolutely no effect. As the creature left Emil was left amazed and in admiration of the power he witnessed before him. But he'd come to panic however when it's discovered that the other strange visitor who gets taken for medical attention is in fact Sterns. Whilst unconscious Samuel was treated and studied. The major note being that his body had been transformed by the massive dose of gamma radiation. Blonsky, hoping to make his getaway, volunteers to join Ross and his team on a hunt for the "Hulk" in the desert. A battle ensues when they spot Banner who they are shocked to see transform into the monster and the team is defeated, with the Hulk unwittingly killing one of Ross' soldiers which only furthers his resolve on top of not wanting the fruits of the project he had been supervising to cause any more damage. Sterns would eventually regain consciousness, forcing Blonsky to take action. He manages to knock out the guard watching his room and approaches Sam in his bed. Preparing to put a kind of poison into an IV connected to him. Sterns' eyes open however, taking him aback. Blonsky asks him why he hasn't turned him in yet, to which Sterns answers that he in some sense owes him for the new power he possesses but even more importantly he may yet be of more use to him. Blonsky was then shocked to see his gun fly out of his hands and turn on him in the air. This being accomplished through Sterns' newfound telekinetic abilities, and he went on to say that in his time unconscious he was able to reach into the Hulk's mind and discover that it was Banner. He had learned about his fears and inhibitions stemming from his childhood abuse and his coldness coming from years of holding back his anger. Concluding that the Hulk was the manifestation of his repressed emotions being brought to the surface in a split personality. This idea further enticed Blonsky, as he thought that it could finally allow his emotions to break free unfettered. He has some hesitation over the physical transformation that would be required. He recalls that Banner is able to switch and he then sees Sterns transform back into his human self. Sterns says that their could be materials back in the ruins of the base that could help him. Suspicious, Blonsky asks Sterns why he'd help him to which he is told that as said before he may have use for him yet and wouldn't mind having a favor in wait.

  • The gamma radiation that mutated the Abomination's body fortified his cellular structure and added, from some as yet unknown source, over 2000 pounds of bone marrow and tissue to his body. Unlike the Hulk's, the Abomination's transformation has proved stable; he cannot change back and forth between his human state and his superhuman state. Superhuman Strength: The Abomination possesses vast superhuman strength, enabling him to lift somewhere in excess of 200 tons. Although the Abomination's strength surpasses that of the Hulk at the Hulk's normal "calm" functional level, the Hulk has a specially adapted adrenal gland whose secretions trigger the release of far greater amounts of physical strength to correspond to his emotional state, while the Abomination does not. Hence, the Abomination's strength does not fluctuate like the Hullk's. His fists are capable of striking with a maximum force force equivalent to 500 pounds of TNT. The Abomination's great strength also extends into the highly developed and powerful muscles of his legs, enabling him to leap great distances. He can jump 870 feet straight into the air. He has been known to cover a distance of 2 miles in a single bound. Superhuman Stamina: The Abomination's highly advanced musculature produces vastly less fatigue toxins during physical activity than the musculature of an ordinary human. He is capable of physically exerting himself at peak capacity for several days before the build up of fatigue toxins in his blood begins to impair him. Superhuman Durability: In addition to great strength, the Abomination's bodily tissues are substantially harder and more resistant to injury than the tissues of an ordinary human. The Abomination's skin is capable of withstanding great heat without blistering, up to 3,500 Fahrenheit, great cold without freezing, down to -175 Fahrenheit, and great impacts without injury. His body is also capable of withstanding tremendous impact forces, such as artillery shells and powerful energy blasts, without sustaining injury. Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite his great physical resilience, it is possible to injure him. However, he possesses an accelerated healing factor similar to that possessed by the Hulk. As a result, he is capable of regenerating great amounts of damaged or destroyed tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than an ordinary human. While the full extent of his healing powers are unknown they are inferior to those of the Hulk since the Hulk's healing powers, much like his strength, increases as he becomes angrier. The Abomination is also immune to all known Earthly diseases and infections. Underwater Breathing: The Abomination's lung capacity is higher than the Hulk's, allowing him to breathe underwater for longer periods of time. Suspended Animation: Extreme pain, cold, or extended lack of oxygen can cause the Abomination to enter a coma-like state of suspended animation, in which he can survive, perhaps indefinitely.
