A Letter of Mary is a book by Laurie R. King and was published in 1997. It is the third in the Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes mystery series, and the first in which they appear as a married couple. In the summer of 1923, Russell and Holmes receive a visit from Dorothy Ruskin, the elderly archeologist they met during the events of O Jerusalem four years earlier. Ruskin presents Russell with a box containing a papyrus scroll purporting to be a letter from Mary Magdalene, written almost 2,000 years earlier. Soon after, Ruskin is killed in a hit-and-run accident, with Russell and Holmes investigating it as foul play. de:Die Apostelin
