McBain would retire as the franchise record holder in games played, with 258 over five seasons. In 2008, McBain was named assistant coach to head coach Glen Gulutzan, replacing former assistant Brent Bilodeau, who left the Wranglers for a head coaching position with the Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League.
