Kon-Tiki was one with a 1950 Oscar award-winning documentary about the Kon-Tikiexpedition of the Norwegian anthropologist Thor Heyerdahl in 1947. The recordings that form the basis for the black-and-white films were made with 16 mm cameras on board the raft by Heyerdahl and his crew members. Heyerdahl has also acted as Narrator in the Scandinavian version. For the American version, the television and radio personality Ben Grauer in an introduction.
