The Hellespont-class was a classification of space-faring, low-tonnage, capital warship of the UNSC Navy. The class was developed in the late 2550s, not long after the Human-Covenant War, and saw service some years later as the UNSC's premier destroyer-type ship. They quickly supplanted the tattered, aging destroyer squadrons and proved their effectiveness through a combination of a modest armament and uncanny versatility. UNSC military servicemen have affectionately nicknamed ships of the line Helley (or Hellie) destroyers, which is obviously a shortened version of the class' full name.

abstract
| - The Hellespont-class was a classification of space-faring, low-tonnage, capital warship of the UNSC Navy. The foremost component of the Hellespont-class arsenal was its heavy magnetic accelerator cannon, the CR-05, Series 03. Thanks to much-improved launching and power technology, the massive weapon proved much more efficient than many of the various models seen in action during the Human-Covenant War. The CR-05s3 was complemented by dozens of missile pods, heavy magnetic acceleration turrets, close-in weapon systems, anti-ship mines, nuclear missiles, and, in some cases, prototype point-defense lasers. UNSC military servicemen have affectionately nicknamed ships of the line Helley (or Hellie) destroyers, which is obviously a shortened version of the class' full name.
