- A pixel (short for picture element, using the common abbreviation "pix" for "picture") is a single point in a graphic image. Each such information element is not really a dot, nor a square, but an abstract sample. With care, pixels in an image can be reproduced at any size without the appearance of visible dots or squares; but in many contexts, they are reproduced as dots or squares and can be visibly distinct when not fine enough. The intensity of each pixel is variable; in color systems, each pixel has typically three or four dimensions of variability such as red, green and blue, or cyan, magenta, yellow and black.

- In digital imaging, a pixel (or picture element) is a single point in a raster image. The pixel is the smallest addressable screen element; it is the smallest unit of picture that can be controlled. Each pixel has its own address. The address of a pixel corresponds to its coordinates. The word pixel is based on a contraction of pix ("pictures") and el (for "element"); similar formations with el for "element" include the words: voxel and texel.

Pixel was open to listen to the Spectrals when others weren't. She advised Cursor that the Spectrals arguments were logical.
- A pixel, or picture element, in the context of computer vision, is the numerical value of the scalar (gray scale or index) or vector (color or multispectral) information at one point in a picture, or image. An image is typically represented as an array of pixels. In other contexts, such as displays, cameras, and printers, the notion of a pixel may have a somewhat different definition. | class="diff-deletedline"| |}
