- Gripper was first built in 2005 by John Findlay from Roaming Robots. It was built as their event's house robot for the featherweight class. Gripper was designed to resemble Robot Wars House robot Growler as it had the look to match and also the crushing jaws for grabbing featherweights, picking them up and dumping them in the pit. In 2011, after having acquired Matilda to be the house robot for featherweight battles, John Findlay decided to sell Gripper and it was sold to Michael Sandford of Team ENGIMA who is trying to get it up and running again.
- Gripper is an orange and green tracked mobile crane. Gripper speaks with a Scouse accent (southern drawl in US dub). He made his first appearance in Race to the Finish.
- El Gripper es una criatura con aspecto de planta carnívora que aparece solamente en Metroid: Other M.
- Gripper is a renowned great Orc soldier of Ostragoth's armies.
- Grippers spread rapidly and can easily cover an wide area if left unchecked. They appear to begin as weeds until they are stepped on or otherwise touched. Once prey comes into contact with their leaves, their leaves spring apart and reveal a gaping "throat" lined with sharp, pointed teeth. Gripper fangs inject a fluid that causes blood to flow freely, and because the fangs point downward it is extremely difficult and painful to free a limb from a Gripper's maw. A Gripper victim will quickly lose consciousness from pain and blood loss, at which point the Gripper will slowly swallow its prey.
- Grippers (known on Metroid.com as mobile flytraps) are small animals that resemble Venus flytraps and appear in Metroid: Other M. They appear to be a form of ambush predator, lying immobile in well-traveled areas of the BOTTLE SHIP's Biosphere disguised as harmless plants, hiding just below the surface of soil, or occasionally roaming above ground in active search of prey.

Gripper bites are extremely dangerous even if help is available, as they can easily become infected and do not heal quickly, resulting in massive blood loss. The only effective medicine for a Gripper wound is Gripper Salve, a foul, grey paste that is available throughout Diamond territory.

They appear to be a form of ambush predator, lying immobile in well-traveled areas of the BOTTLE SHIP's Biosphere disguised as harmless plants, hiding just below the surface of soil, or occasionally roaming above ground in active search of prey. When Samus approaches, they will dislodge themselves and attempt to eat her, hopping about by means of two wide, leaf-like "wings" or quickly tunneling into the ground to attack from beneath. If they are successful in ensnaring Samus, they will rapidly drain her energy though she can use a Bomb to break their grip. When active they are vulnerable to all weapons, but when in their "resting" state they are completely invincible.
