The reverence and worship of departed ancestors is the oldest form of religion in Rokugan. It is believed that after death, the spirits of the departed live on in one of several Spirit Realms, and that they can see and even interact with their descendants still alive in Ningen-do, especially those who have entered Yomi -- Realm of the Blessed Ancestors. These spirits can offer aid in the way of blessings or advice, or offer correction in the form of haunting. People offer gifts of food, prayer, and incense to their ancestors, either as thanks for their aid or appeasement from their haunting.

- The worship of one's ancestors.
* Common throughouyt Glorantha
* Associated with Daka Fal Source: Cults of Prax
- It has a successor in the Bronze Age, Monotheism.
- The Dunmer believe that the spirits of the dead live on in Nirn. They can know and affect the future, and can speak with other spirits, and work great magic, so the Dunmer honor and give gifts to them, and ask them for aid and protection. Strong spirits of warriors and wise women preserve the honor and wisdom of the race. The worst spirits are evil and harmful called ghosts, devils, and demons. The oldest of the great ancestor spirits are the Daedra. They are powerful, but dangerous, and hard to understand.
- Ancestor worship, as practised by the tribes of the Mwangi Expanse is something of a misnomer. The tribes revere their ancestors, but do not worship them, and there are no clerics who derive their divine powers from ancestors. Instead, the spirits of the ancestors are seen as helping to guide and defend the people, and might be asked to intercede with an actual deity on their behalf. The Mwangi sometimes use carvings of trees as an aid in remembering their lineage.
