The AR30 has a double cutaway Japanese ash body mated to a set-in maple neck with a rosewood fretboard with dot position markers. Components include Gibraltar bridge and Quik Change tail piece, dual Super 70's humbucking pickups with independent volume controls, dual tri-sound coil-tap switches, and a master tone control. The AR30's body is slimmer than its contemporary Artist models and thus weighs a bit less. Its body consist of a laminated wood (plywood) center block and Japanese Ash wings. The AR30 offers more tonal versatility than the AR50 due to the inclusion of Tri-sound switches for the pickups. One other way production costs were controlled for this model is that the position of pickup selector toggle is relocated to allow all the controls to be wired from a single rear control cavity; on the higher-end models the pickup selector is placed on the upper horn and requires a separate cavity.
