- The film was novelized by Piers Anthony. The novel and film correspond fairly well, although Anthony was evidently working from an earlier script than the one used for the film, and was criticized for the ending of his book which removed the ambiguity whether the events of Total Recall are real or a dream. In addition, the novel had a subplot wherein the aliens planted a failsafe device within their Mars technology, so that if it were misused or destroyed, the local star would go nova and therefore prevent the species from entering the galactic community. It coincided with a comment earlier in the novel that astronomers were noticing an abnormal number of recent supernovae, giving an indication that the aliens seeded their tech as part of a galactic experiment in technological maturity. - The project has been in development since mid 2008 and was originally planned as a comedy sound replacement mod for Doom 3's single player campaign. But since the movie Total Recall and Doom 3 share similar story elements and settings, a futuristic Schwarzenegger spy mod seemed like an excellent idea. The company that made Rupert recalls the bears for the eyes potentially coming loose and Lois sends him back. When Stewie finds him missing, Brian tells him what happened and shows him the replacement toy giraffe they sent which Stewie rejects. Stewie decides to go to the factory and retrieve Rupert at all costs and enlists Brian's help. They slip into the factory on a tour and find the recall room, only to realize there are thousands of identical bears.
As Stewie despairs of ever finding the real Rupert, Brian tries to comfort him. He spots a conveyor belt loading the bears into a furnace and discovers the real Rupert. Stewie gains access to the belt and makes his way to Rupert. As Rupert nearly falls in, Stewie grabs him and tries to retreat off the belt himself before falling in but get trapped by a large dollhouse. Brian tries failed toy after failed toy until he manages to stop the belt by jamming a pogo stick in the gears and Stewie is reunited with Rupert for good. As Stewie celebrates getting Rupert back by giving him a big hug, one of the eyes pop off and he swallows it, turning blue and passing out as Chris announces he has died.

Meanwhile, Peter comes down sick and his voice turns on Lois. After making love, Peter goes to his bowling match Peter sounds better later to Lois' surprise and Peter decides to get sick again to get back the voice that turns Lois on. After repeated attempts, he manages to get deathly ill. Peter ends up in the hospital but tries to leave to go to his bowling tournament. He decides to enlist Lois to take his place and despite her objections she agrees. The guys have some reservations but Lois does remarkably well, winning the game for the guys. Celebrating at The Drunken Clam, Lois joins in the guy's sex talk. Joe surprises everyone with three tickets to a Red Sox game just as Peter sows up to join them and they point out they don't have a ticket for him, preferring to take Lois.
After the game, Peter confronts Lois about hanging out with his friends, lamenting that they are all he has. Peter joins the others but finds his jealousy and desperation leaves him out of the group. As Lois feels bad for him, she decides to help Peter regain his place, turning down a night out to allow Peter to rejoin his friends.
