The Fender Mustang is an electric guitar by the Fender Musical Instruments Corporation, introduced in 1964 as the basis of a major redesign of Fender's student models then consisting of the Musicmaster and Duo-Sonic. It was produced until 1982 and reissued in 1990. In the 1960s, it was used in Surf music. It attained cult status in the 1990s largely as a result of its use by a number of alternative rock bands. Early examples are generally seen as the most collectible of all the short-scale Fender guitars. Fender also issued a series of amplifiers named the Mustang in 2010.

Os seus primeiros exemplares son considerados obxectos de coleccionista, incluso máis que os de outros modelos de Fender. A guitarra consta de dúas pastillas single coil, conha inusual configuración, xa que tiña un singular trémolo que só compartiría coa súa derivada: a Jag-Stang. Leo Fender creou esta guitarra económica especialmente para os estudantes avanzados e deseñou este trémolo especial para satisfacer dito propósito.

Fender also issued a series of amplifiers named the Mustang in 2010. In 2011 Fender released the Pawn Shop Series Mustang Special. Similar to the Mustang, but with Wide Range Humbucking pickups and a hard tail Strat bridge The guitar can be used in pro mode for Rock Band 3 and so on
