The Lincoln Lawyer is the sixteenth novel written by Michael Connelly, and the first novel featuring Los Angeles defense attorney Mickey Haller. The book was adapted into a film starring Matthew McConaughey in 2011. The book was published on 3 October 2005, and won the 2006 Shamus Award and the 2006 Macavity Award; it was also nominated for the 2006 Crime Thriller Awards Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, but lost to Nick Stone's Mr Clarinet. The book was dedicated: "This is for Daniel F. Daly and Roger O. Mills." The title may be a pun on the Lorado Taft sculpture Lincoln the Lawyer.
