With the founding of Falcatta by the II Augusta legion in xxx, leading officers took on the mantle of administration of the city, and in time came to be considered the fathers of the city. The families of those principal officers are considered the Major Houses. Over the course of history, other families have gained prominence and been named Patricians of the city as well.
