Mathieu Kassovitz (born April 3, 1967) is a French director and actor. Kassovitz is a vocal opponent of the National Front government and its politics. His 2004 film, Ali, chronicled the life of a French Muslim boy who ends up in prison and then succumbs to a life of crime after being falsely accused by the police. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
