  • In Living Color is a sketch comedy series that ran on Fox from 1990 to 1994.
  • In Living Color is an American sketch comedy television series that originally ran on the Fox Network from April 15, 1990, to May 19, 1994. Brothers Keenen and Damon Wayans created, wrote and starred in the program. The show was produced by Ivory Way Productions in association with 20th Century Fox Television and was taped before a live studio audience at stage 7 at the Fox Television Center on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California. The title of the series was inspired by the NBCannouncement of broadcasts being presented "in living color" during the 1950s and 1960s, prior to mainstream color television. It also refers to the fact that most of the show's cast were black, unlike other sketch comedy shows such as Saturday Night Live whose casts were almost exclusively white.
  • The show would always open up with the various cast members throwing paint at the camera. Due to the price inflations of paint, this was one of the more expensive portions, and crippled the budget for the rest of the show. We would then see some pointless dance number by the Fly Girls (named after their tendency to make male audience members zip open their flies and fap off to them). Keenan Ivory Wayans would then walk up and whore everyone's attention (this was often the only work he did for an episode). Then one or two sketches would be shown, plus a commercial for some useless 90's product, like the PMS Defense kit, or Minute Maiden. Another Fly Girls dance number would re-arouse the males so they could endure one more sketch. Lastly, they'd have some guest star rapper no one ever heard
  • Other cast members over the series' run consisted of Keenen & Damon's siblings: Kim, Shawn & Marlon Wayans and actors such as Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier, T'Keyah "Crystal" Keymah, Jamie Foxx, Kelly Coffield, Kim Coles, Alexandra Wentworth, Steve Parks, Chris Rock, Carol Rosenthal, Mark Wilmore & Reggie McFadden. Singer\actress Jennifer Lopez appeared on the show as one of the "Fly Girls". At the end of the third season, Damon Wayans left "In Living Color" to pursue a movie career, but he made occassional return appearances during the fourth season.
  • In Living Color! Wrote an article 'bout it! Like to read it? Here it go! Sketch comedy show created by Keenan Ivory Wayans and starring many Wayans Brothers (And the Wayans Sister!) that aired on Fox in the early 1990s. The series is largely known as the launching pad for the careers of Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, David Allen Grier, and Tommy Davidson as well as Jennifer Lopez and Carrie Ann Inaba, who were part of the show's "Fly Girl" dancers. Scheduled to return in 2012. No, really. Not to be confused with the funk-metal band Living Colour.

  • Other cast members over the series' run consisted of Keenen & Damon's siblings: Kim, Shawn & Marlon Wayans and actors such as Jim Carrey, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier, T'Keyah "Crystal" Keymah, Jamie Foxx, Kelly Coffield, Kim Coles, Alexandra Wentworth, Steve Parks, Chris Rock, Carol Rosenthal, Mark Wilmore & Reggie McFadden. Singer\actress Jennifer Lopez appeared on the show as one of the "Fly Girls". In 1992, Keenen Ivory Wayans stopped appearing in the show's sketches after the third season due to disputes with FOX about them censoring the content of the show & rerunning early episodes without his consultation (he feared that FOX would ultimately decrease the syndication value of the show). At the end of the third season, Damon Wayans left "In Living Color" to pursue a movie career, but he made occassional return appearances during the fourth season. During the fourth season of the show (which lasted from 1992–1993), Keenen appeared only in the season opener even though he remained the executive producer and he stayed in the opening credits until the tenth episode. Marlon Wayans left the series shortly after Keenen resigned as the show's producer; and Shawn & Kim Wayans both left the series at the end of the fourth season. By the fifth season of "In Living Color", none of the Wayans were involved in the series and on May 19, 1994, the show ended after 5 seasons & 127 episodes.

Lastly, they'd have some guest star rapper no one ever heard of, sing something at the end, where the credits would roll, so we wouldn't have to see his ugly face, though his music would still assault our ears.

Other members of the Wayans family—Kim, Shawn, and Marlon—had regular roles, while brother Dwayne frequently appeared as an extra. The show also starred the previously unknown actor/comedians Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, Tommy Davidson, David Alan Grier, and T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh, amongst others. Additionally, Dancing with the Stars judge and choreographer Carrie Ann Inaba and dancer Jennifer Lopez (now best known as a singer and actress) were members of the show's dance troupe The Fly Girls with actress Rosie Perez serving as choreographer during the first 4 seasons. The series won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series in 1990.

The series is largely known as the launching pad for the careers of Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx, David Allen Grier, and Tommy Davidson as well as Jennifer Lopez and Carrie Ann Inaba, who were part of the show's "Fly Girl" dancers. The series was largely seen as an urban version of Saturday Night Live, which featured hip-hop and R&B musical acts. The series spawned several popular characters, most notably the ex-con clown Homey D. Clown (Damon Wayans), the flamboyantly gay film critics for Men on Film (Damon Wayans and Grier), and Fire Marshal Bill (Carrey), a fire safety official who creates disaster rather than safety. Unfortunately, the edgy comedy of the series eventually brought down the wrath of the network executives upon it, and the Wayans family ended up leaving the series. The show ultimately was cancelled after five seasons, freeing the show's breakout stars to go on to varying degrees of success in film, tv, and stand-up comedy. Scheduled to return in 2012. No, really. Not to be confused with the funk-metal band Living Colour.
