In early May 2015, a series of significant tornado outbreaks affected much of the central United States from May 3 to May 13. The most significant days of this sequence of outbreaks was May 3, May 6, May 11 and May 12, with a mid-sized outbreak on May 9. During this time, 335 tornadoes were confirmed, from eastern Colorado to Maryland. There were 181 fatalities from the outbreak, and roughly $15 billion in damages, making it among the most destructive and widespread tornado outbreaks in history.
