I'm a relatively new member to Wookieepedia, but I was wondering why the titles for the films, games, etc., are all completely italicized. Book titles and vessel names – yes, they should always be shown in italics, but that rule doesn't apply to everything. I understand that Star Wars should, since this is a Star Wars site, be in italics, but even Lucasfilm don't completely italicize their titles when they don't need to. For example, surely it should be LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy and not LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy?

It's just an observation I've made, and doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, but I was just wondering why it was so. It's just a different stylistic convention. jSarek 04:25, 2 March 2007 (UTC) * It's actually proper grammar to italicize the complete title of any major work, be it a book, movie, album, video game, or whatever. I've noticed that a lot of websites don't seem to follow this rule, and I can only assume it's due to their editors not wanting to go back and put in all the necessary HTML tags once an article is written. I always thought that book titles should be underlined instead of italicized, actually, but apparently either way is acceptable. -- SM-716 talk? 04:28, 2 March 2007 (UTC) * It's a stylistic convention, not actual grammar, and some style guides permit bolding in place of italics for certain things. And underlining = italics; most style guides that I'm aware of say something along the lines of "either is acceptable, though you should never use both in the same work." Others just say italics are preferred. jSarek 04:32, 2 March 2007 (UTC) * I just figured that Wookieepedia would follow the conventions that Lucasfilm use, that's all. C-3POwen 19:10, 2 March 2007 (UTC) * It's not a Lucasfilm convention, though. If I write a book and call it "Ozzel: A Biography", it doesn't matter if I italicize it or not on the cover, on my website, or anywhere I mention it. When people start writing reviews in newspapers and magazines and making wiki articles, it should always be Ozzel: A Biography, because that is the proper format for a title of a work. -- Ozzel 20:42, 2 March 2007 (UTC) * The other thing we don't usually do is to put short story/article titles in "quotes". 23:36, 2 March 2007 (UTC) * Which we really need to have a policy on, one way or the other. I've had several cases where I've put a short story title in quotes later changed to italics. jSarek 02:07, 3 March 2007 (UTC)
